Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced L3 Linux System Engineer to join our infrastructure and technical operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving complex technical escalations, managing and optimizing Linux and cloud infrastructure, supporting web hosting environments, implementing automation, and maintaining the security and reliability of critical systems.

This position requires a highly skilled, hands-on engineer with strong experience in Linux system administration, cloud technologies, networking, virtualization, web hosting, security, automation, and infrastructure management.

The L3 Linux System Engineer will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to L1 and L2 support teams and assist in resolving high-priority infrastructure incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle complex technical issues escalated from L1 and L2 support teams.
• Troubleshoot advanced Linux, server, network, cloud, and application-layer issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis for system failures, performance problems, and security incidents.
• Manage and optimize Linux servers, Windows Servers, virtual machines, web servers, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Maintain high availability, reliability, and performance of critical systems.
• Manage and support AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
• Configure and maintain web hosting platforms including Apache, Nginx, cPanel, Plesk, and WHM.
• Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated application deployments.
• Monitor infrastructure using tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Analyze system and application logs using platforms such as ELK Stack and Splunk.
• Manage and troubleshoot networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and SSL/TLS.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, including WAF, IDS/IPS, IAM, SIEM, and DDoS protection.
• Perform system patching, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
• Design and maintain backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure scaling.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with developers, network engineers, cloud engineers, and other IT teams.
• Mentor and provide technical training to L1 and L2 engineers.
• Participate in rotational on-call and emergency support when required.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Linux system administration, cloud hosting, IT infrastructure, or related fields.
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux, particularly Ubuntu, RHEL, and CentOS.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, and Hyper-V.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of web hosting technologies and platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell.
• Advanced knowledge of networking and infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, security, and incident-response tools.
• Strong understanding of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
• Willingness to work US Central Time and participate in rotational on-call support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant professional certifications such as:
  • RHCE
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
  • VMware VCP
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Terraform Associate
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE
  • CISSP or CEH
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience working with ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR, or similar compliance standards.
• Previous experience training or mentoring technical teams.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be willing to work US Central Time (CT).
• Must be willing to participate in rotational shifts and on-call/emergency support.
• Immediate joiners or candidates available within 30–60 days are preferred.
• Candidates should demonstrate strong professional communication and the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions.
• Successful candidates may be required to complete a hands-on technical assessment focused on L3 Linux system administration, troubleshooting, networking, cloud infrastructure, and web hosting.
